PREPARING THE BRIDES DAILY DEVOTIONAL

Friday, 26th April, 2019

O.Y.O. (On Your Own)

TEXT: Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. (Matthew 25vs7-9)

MESSAGE

The response of the five wise virgins is a revelational message to every wise Christian who desires and prays to finish well and get to Heaven to reign with Christ. The five foolish virgins asked the five wise virgins to give them some oil out of their oil. See their response in Matthew 25vs9 - "But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves."

The heavenly race is run by everyone who believes in Christ, yet not everyone is serious, committed, zealous, diligent and sacrificial in the race. However, everyone will have to bear his or her own burden with the help of the Holy Spirit if he or she wants to reach the glorious end. One vital lesson we need to learn from the response of the five wise virgins is that 'you don't please others at the expense of your heavenly race.' In a race, you don't wait for anybody or become slow because of anyone lest you are pushed down by forces which do not want you to win. Some Christian wives, out of inability to displease their husbands tend to compromise their Christian convictions, thus displeasing God. This is why every youth and the singles (male and female) must make sure they do not marry someone who will not foster and facilitate the heavenly race they are pursuing.

Another lesson to learn from their response is the consciousness and awareness of the fact that they are on their own - the oil (which is a signal of the anointing of the Holy Spirit) is the only thing that could help them through and through till they would see the Bridegroom (Jesus Christ). In like manner, we must be in the consciousness of the fact that we are on our own and the Holiness and Righteousness of God which are given to us by the help of the Holy Spirit must not be taken away from us or be relegated. We must safeguard our salvation by not in any way compromise and/or please others at the expense of your salvation.

POINT TO NOTE: Everyone will bear his or her own burden (Galatians 6vs5).

ACTION POINT: Renounce every act of pleasing men and environment at the expense of your eternal salvation.
