WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL?

TEXT: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12vs2)

MESSAGE

Role modelling is as important as life itself. The life everyone is living is an influenced life - either good or bad influence. There is a wide correlation between behaviour influence and role modelling. Behavioural Psychologist defines Behaviour Influence as a degree of control exert someone has on the idea, belief, attitude, character and lifestyle of another person. This points to us that in one way or the other human beings are influenced by one person/thing or the other.

The question now is, WHO IS YOUR ROLE MODEL? Is it someone whose behaviour is not found in Christ or someone whose lifestyle is patterned towards Christ? It is very unfortunate to hear some so-called believers choosing those who are apparently not okay with God as their role model. This should not be as Christians who are godliness-minded and heaven-minded. As Christians who desires to reign with Jesus Christ, we are expected to choose Jesus Christ as our number one ROLE MODEL. He is the only infallible man ever lived on earth - He had no sin in Him, He was, He is and He will ever be a perfect one.

Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ said in 1 Corinthians 11vs1 that "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." This means, we are only to follow the footsteps of Christ in the lives of our Christian leaders. Whatever steps that is not found in CHRIST should not be followed. Your role model is a determinant to how you live your life and also a determinant to how you will end your life. If your role model is emit hypocrisy, you will do the same; if your role model behaves in any form and justifies his/her behaviour, you will surely do the same, except the Holy Spirit cautions you. Therefore, being in flesh as we are, any role model could make mistakes but when we look daily unto Jesus Christ who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, we will not fall even when our role models fall, instead we will prayer for their restoration.

POINT TO NOTE: The lifestyle of a man is influenced either by godliness or by worldliness. Your ROLE MODEL is a determinant to how you live your life and also a determinant to how you will end your life.

ACTION POINT: Check again who your role model is and see if he or she carries and exhibits Christ (not gift).
