THE PLEASURE OF GOD
TEXT: He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy (Psalms 147vs10-11)
MESSAGE
Everybody has what arouses his or her joy or better put, everyone has what brings him or her joy or pleasures. Some find pleasure in games, some find pleasure in watching movies, some find pleasure in singing, some find pleasure in watching wrestlings, some find pleasure in one thing or the other. All these are ephemeral and non-edifying. In fact the scripture says they (bodily exercise) profit little (1 Timothy 4vs8).
However, in the same vein, God has what brings Him pleasure/joy at all times. God's pleasure is derived from our prompt and diligent obedience to His words. Take a vivid look into this: as parents, when child your promptly obeys your commands without any hesitation, how do you feel towards the child? I'm sure you will always be overwhelmed by his/her prompt and diligent obedience. This will possibly prompt you to always buy him/her things most often when he/she never asks for such things. In the same way, God is always overwhelmed by our prompt and diligent obedience to His words.
It is so painful that many Christians these days does not know and/or understand this biblical truth. Many people think worshipping and praising God are the only means of arousing God's pleasure and joy, so they tend to bribe God with praises and worship while they continue in disobedience to His words. Truly, worshipping and praising God arouses God's pleasure and joy only when we do that in the beauty of His holiness (Psalms 96vs9).
Therefore, as true and genuine believers, let us always seek to bring joy and pleasure to God by keeping His commandments. No wonder David became a man after His heart - this was not so because he worship and praise God only but because he was always ready to obey God's instructions (words).
POINT TO NOTE: God finds pleasure and joy most in our prompt and diligent obedience to His words.
ACTION POINT: From now on start to daily make God joyful by your prompt and diligent obedience to His words. Ask God for the grace and enablement to do so.
