CONSIDER YOURSELF

TEXT: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted (Galatians 6vs1)

MESSAGE

The holy scripture has given us a warning that whosoever that thinks he/she stands should take heed (careful, watchful, vigilant) lest he/she falls (1 Corinthians 10vs12). JESUS CHRIST also told us (His disciples) to watch and pray lest we fall into temptations (Mark 14vs38). These warning and admonition point to a possibility of falling into temptation if one is not watchful in prayer. It is good to preach the gospel to sinners, it is good to help a weak opposite sex to become strong in the Lord, it is good to pay evangelistic visitation to people of both genders. However, while doing the good works which Christ commands us to do, it is of great importance and benefits to us to be conscious and watchful in prayer lest we also fall into temptations or perhaps lest we be a partaker in their sins.

Beloved, don't be like Tamar who intended to help his brother, Amnon but was raped by him (2 Samuel 13). Don't be like Uzzah (2 Samuel 6vs6-7) who intended to help the ark of covenant of God from falling but was struck dead.

What are you to consider? Firstly, you must consider the leading of the Holy Spirit - have you tabled the matter before the Holy Spirit for instructions and directions? Has he given you a go-ahead? Secondly, you must consider your weaknesses - if the person you want to evangelise to or the person you want to help from falling can arouse your weakness and make you to fall, you must first deal with your weakness in the place of prayer and the word of God. Don't be in a hurry to lift up or help someone. Let me tell you this. Some years ago, I saw some people within my vicinity whom I think they need to hear the gospel of Christ, though they claimed to be Christians. Surprisingly, among these people, there was someone I was unable to meet, in spite of several promises and mind to see her. One day I asked within my spirit why I had been unable to see her? The Holy Spirit ministered to me the reason I should not attempt it. Beloved, before you help anyone who falls, always consider the leading of the Holy Spirit and obey what He tells you to do.

POINT TO NOTE: Don't always be in a hurry to help someone from falling. Always consider the leading of the Holy Spirit before helping anyone.

ACTION POINT: Ask God to deal with any weakness that is not making you to evangelise and win soul for Christ.
